1 過去將來時的構成
would + 動詞原形
He told me that he would go to see a movie the next evening.他告訴我第二天晚上他要去看電影。
2 過去將來時的用法
（1）表示從過去某一時間看將要發生的動作或存在的狀態。常用于主句是一般過去時的賓語從句中，表示從句的動作發生在主句動作之后。常與過去將來時連用的時間狀語有 two days（weeks，months...）later，the following day，the next week（month，year...）等。
She said she would be there at seven o’clock，and he thought she would keep her word.
她說她會在 7 點鐘到那兒，他認為她會履行諾言。
（2）表示過去的某種習慣性行為。
She would lose the key. 她總會把鑰匙弄丟。
He would sit for hours doing nothing.他常常什么都不做，一坐就是幾個小時。
3 表示過去將來時的常用結構
（1）was/were going to do 表示準備、計劃做某事或將要發生某事。
He said he was going to live in the countryside when he retired.他說他退休后要住在農村。
（2）was/were about to do 表示過去即將發生的事。
I felt something terrible was about to happen.我覺得有可怕的事情要發生了。
（3）was/were to do 表示過去的計劃安排或注定要發生的事情。
It is said that another bridge was to be built in our hometown.
據說我們家鄉要再建一座橋。 ［詞匯復現］
（4）go，come，leave，take off 等動詞（短語）可用過去進行時表示過去將要發生的事情。
Nobody knew when the guests were coming.沒人知道客人什么時候來。
