連詞 and
意為“和, 并且; 然后; 那么”, 表示并列關系、順承關系或條件和結果的關系。

My mother is a nurse and my father is a teacher.
我母親是位護士，我父親是位老師。
She takes her schoolbag and goes to school.
她拿上書包就上學去了。

連詞 but
意為“但是”, 表示轉折關系, 連接意義相反或相對的詞或句子。
The house is small but nice.
這個房子很小但是很漂亮。
The car is very old, but it runs very fast.
這輛小汽車很舊了，但是它跑得很快。
連詞 because
意為“因為”, 引導原因狀語從句, 表示原因。
because 引導的原因狀語從句可用來回答 why 開頭的疑問句。
—Why do you want to go there? 你為什么想去那里?
—Because it's an interesting place. 因為那是個有趣的地方。
because引導的原因狀語從句可在主句前也可在主句后，在主句前時，要用逗號與主句隔開。
Because this is our first lesson, I don't know your names.
= I don't know your names because this is our first lesson.
因為這是我們的第一節課, 所以我不知道你們的名字。
