2. This means being in a difficult situation that you can not seem to get out of.
意思是“處于一個你似乎無法擺脫的困境中”。
1）此處mean表示“……意思是；意為”，用來解釋上句出現在書名中的習語的意思。再如：
What do you mean? 你的意思是什么？
此外，mean 還可以表示“意味著”的意思。如：
…before we have to make a decision that could mean life or death.
在我們不得不做出可能意味著生死的決定之前…
2）a difficult situation that you cannot seem to get out of 和 a decision that could mean life or death 均為定語從句。在前者中，從句that you cannot seem to get out of 修飾名詞situation;
在后者中，從句that could mean life or death 修飾decision。

be used to 意為“習慣于”，其中to是介詞，其后要接名詞或 V-ing 形式。
