1 in front of…在……前面
[觀察] The chair is in front of the desk. 椅子在書桌的前面。
There is a tall tree in front of the classroom.
教室前面有一棵大樹。
There is a desk in the front of the classroom.
在教室的前面有一張書桌。
[探究] front作名詞，意為“前面；正面”。常用短語為in front of…，意為“在……前面”，指某一范圍之外的前面。
[辨析] in front of 與in the front of
(1)in front of指在某范圍外部的前面。
(2)in the front of指在某范圍內部的前面。
2 above prep. 在……之上
[觀察] The picture is above the bed.
圖畫在床的上方。
[辨析] on, over與above
三者都表示“在……上”，但位置關系有所不同：

—How old is he? 他多大了？
—He is thirty. 他三十歲了。
