第一部分內容：基礎知識
◆There is a pond near my house.在我家附近有一個水塘。
There be...意思是“有……”，在這個句型中，there是引導詞，句子的主語是be動詞后面的名詞，be動詞的單、復數取決于后面的名詞是單數或復數。
◆During the winter it freezes, and I can play hockey on it with my friends.冬天，池塘的水結冰了，我和朋友可以在上面打曲棍球。
(1)freeze意思是“結冰”，過去式和過去分詞是froze和frozen。
(2)play＋球類、棋類時，球類和棋類前不用定冠詞the, 但表示演奏某種樂器時，表樂器的名詞前加the。
eg：play tennis 打網球
play the piano彈鋼琴
◆It is only three blocks from my house.它離我家只有三個街區的距離。
block意思是“街區”，一般指四條街道中的區域。
◆【辨析】while，but，however
while 著重強調前后兩者的對比，but 表示前后意思的轉折，however 獨立使用，使用逗號和其他部分隔開，表示意思的轉折。
eg：He likes watching TV while his brother likes doing sports.
他愛看電視，而他兄弟愛運動。
He lives nearby，but he never comes over.
他住在附近，可是從來不過來轉。
He didn't take an umbrella.However，he came home without getting wet.他沒帶傘，然而，他沒淋濕回家了。
