第一部分內容：基礎知識
◆I get average grades in all of my subjects except English，but sometimes I make stupid mistakes.除了英語，我其他學科的成績很平常，但是有時我會犯愚蠢的錯誤。
(1)except常用于肯定句中，but常用于否定句中。
eg：Everyone is here except Jenny.除了詹妮都來了。
There is nothing but a card.除了卡片什么也沒有。
【拓展】besides 也是介詞，意思是“除……之外(尚有)”，包括besides 之后的內容。
eg：He also knows Japanese besides English.除了英語他也懂日語。
Two other boys are on duty besides you.除了你還有兩名男孩今天值日。
(2)make mistakes表示“犯錯誤”，還可以說make a mistake。
(3)【辨析】stupid，foolish，silly
stupid指“智力差的，反應遲鈍的”。foolish指“無頭腦的，缺乏常識的”。silly指“頭腦簡單，不懂事，傻頭傻腦”，foolish很少用于口語。stupid和silly在口氣上最侮辱的口氣是stupid，最輕、最常用的是silly。
◆We all have our strong points and weak points.我們每個人都有強項和弱項。
weak作形容詞，在本句中表示“能力弱的”，后接at/in sth.。同義詞組是be bad at/in，反義詞組是be good at/in。
eg：He was weak in math，but good at English.他數學差但英語好。
