（1）sense此處用作及物動詞，意為“感覺到；意識到”。
e.g.:He sensed danger and stopped.
She sensed that something had happened to her family.
sense還可用作名詞，意為“感覺；意識”，其后常接介詞of。
e.g.:When you touch ice,you have a sense of cold.
She has no sense of business.
（2）sadness 不可數名詞，意為“悲傷，憂愁”。其形容詞形式為sad，副詞形式為sadly。
e.g.:Her heart was full of sadness.
英語中，有形容詞加后綴-ness可構成抽象名詞，表示性質、情況、狀態等。
ill (生病的)→illness疾病
kind (友好的；仁慈的)→kindness仁慈
good(善良的)→goodness善良
happy(幸福的)→happiness幸福
（3）pain既可以用作可數名詞，也可用作不可數名詞,意為“痛苦；苦惱”，指精神上或肉體上的痛苦。其后可接“in +表示身體部位的名詞”，表示“某部位疼痛”。其形容詞painful 意為“痛苦的；慘痛的”。
e.g.:I have a pain/pains in my head.
This is a painful lesson.
2.I look up the history of ... 我查閱了……的歷史。
look up意為“（在詞典、參考書中或通過電腦）查閱；查詢”，為“動詞+副詞”型短語。代詞作其賓語時，只能放在兩詞之間。
e.g.: I don't know the word.Let's look it up in the dictionary.
He looked up some new words in the dictionary.

3.be known for
be known for意為 “因……而出名”,相當于be famous for。
e.g.:Einstein was known for his theory of relativity.

（2）be known to意為“為……所熟知”。
